Nagesh Bhat, Principal, Shree Guru Sudhindra BBA BCA College

Nagesh M Bhat When you are one of the brightest sparks of the first batch of KIAMS… when mega-buck packages are knocking on your door, and life - changing opportunities are right in front of you… you can walk an unbeaten track only if you are convinced about the purpose of your life. Nagesh Bhat was convinced that he was built to transform the education domain. Today, he has carved a name for himself as the Principal of Shree Guru Sudhindra BBA - BCA College.

"Way back in 1998 - when we joined KIAMS as its first batch - the challenges were very different. For the current generation, how to face challenges imposed by an increasingly corrupt world is a topic of far greater relevance than any other subject. It has become imperative for educational institutions to primarily focus on grooming good citizens for the country. It should be in this backdrop that specialization in management or any other subject be conducted."

Nagesh brings in real-life experiences to his college and classes. He is in constant touch with market realities through a thriving retail business, which he started in partnership with his father and brother. He expresses deep gratitude to KIAMS for making him realise that classroom content can only be meaningful when tested in a real market scenario.
"KIAMS is probably the only B - School, in the country to have a full-fledged rural festival - Pragati. I had the opportunity of learning from some of the most illustrious minds in the business education segment, like Dr S.N. Chary - the Founder - Director of KIAMS, Dr. K. Nargunkar, Dr. V.S. Pai, Dr. Chetan Bajaj, Dr. Niranjan Swain Dr. Vijay Kumar, and last but not the least Prof. Sandeep Kayaska - who I dedicate my success to. I also owe a lot to the non - teaching staff, particularly Mr. Rajesh Dixit, who did a fantastic job as the placement in - charge of KIAMS in its early years."
Nagesh feels that in terms of infrastructure - especially the hostel facilities - no B - School in the country comes even remotely close to KIAMS. He credits his batchmates of 1998 - the first batch of KIAMS ‚Äď for doing a fantastic job in establishing KIAMS as one of the best B - Schools in the country. Nagesh concludes that from an investment perspective KIAMS is complete value for money, but wishes that KIAMS should push for a conversion of its PGDM courses into MBA degrees.
"To those who are academically inclined, like me, it is very difficult to pursue a doctorate, since a PGDM is not recognized as a Master's degree. B - Schools like KIAMS give us the environment to explore our strengths. Therefore if certain student from KIAMS, realize that they can be of greater impact to the academic domain instead of the corporate world, they should be empowered accordingly."
